Chris's ABCs

Jock. Yes, I was a jock and in some ways still am. No I am not one of those jocks you think of when you think of a football player, I am a jock you think of when you think of a cross country runner. I was someone who was too much of a jock to hang out with the non-jocks but not enough of a jock to hang out with the football players.

Irritable. If I have not been eating well, or getting enough sleep, or have just been really stressed I get very irritable. When this happens, the only way to avoid my wrath is to stay out of my way. I know when I am like this, and I will frequently apologize immediately before or after I go off on you, but this is one trait of mine I really need to learn to control.

Honest - Well this is more true than it used to be. Mainly when I was in the closet and lying about who I am. But I will always tell you what is on my mind, and I won’t worry about being politically correct. For some reason this keeps getting me in trouble.

Geek. I bet you were expecting me to use another more obvious word here, but what would be the point. It would be telling you something you already know. Yes, I will admit it, I am a geek. I like to know things, and staying in and reading a book is just as good as good as going out to the bars to me. Not only that, but I am a computer geek as well.

Fears. I have three phobias. I have learned to combat all of them relatively well and if you knew me you would have no idea about them if I did not tell you. I have a fear of water. My mom and I discovered this when she tried to take me for swim lessons I refused. Yes, I can swim and will go swimming, or whitewater rafting, etc. but I avoid them. I have a fear of hamburgers I do not see cooked. I have no idea why, I just know I refuse to eat hamburgers at restaurants because I did not see them cooked. My third fear is of dogs. This is the result of being bit by one when I was riding my bike to school one day.

Eagle Scout. Yes, I am a gay Eagle Scout, and scouting was a big part of my life. Now that I am out, being involved in scouts is a lot more difficult. Okay, essentially impossible. That doesn’t mean I don’t miss the camping and friendship from scouting.
