Sick, Skiing, Fires, and Comments

I have been sick since last Wednesday. It sucks. I never get hit like this. I still refuse to go to the doctor about it. I hate doctors more than most people hate dentists. Yes I know they are a necessary part of life but that does not mean I am going to go unless it is absolutely necessary.

Despite being sick I felt well enough to go skiing on Sunday. Big mistake. It was a great day of skiing but I was exhausted from being sick and it probably did not help me get better any. I thought I was getting better before I went plus I thought it was going to be a nice March bluebird day. Instead it was a windy cold cloudy day. And I had not been skiing in 3 weeks, I could not possibly go another week without skiing. I do live in Colorado after all.

That living in Colorado comes with its downsides too. We are in a severe drought at the moment making the risk of wild fires extremely high. Probably why there has been at least one grass fire around Colorado Springs every day for that last week maybe more. You always here about the wildfires in California but to hear about one in Colorado it has to be extremely bad. Guess that goes to show how the news networks carry where the money is instead of actually covering the news.

Please leave comments if you like what I right. That will keep me posting and prevent me from getting tired of it. I enjoy having conversations or debates about things you may disagree with. Who knows you may change my mind.

Where do you Meet Gay People?

A perplexing dilemma among gay guys is where do you go to meet other gay people? Being gay is not something you can see so it is difficult to meet others. The number 1 solution is just be out of the closet. You are probably already friends with someone who is gay but do not know it.

For a High Schooler your best chance is probably your own high school. If you have a GSA go to it.

For a college student join the gay club on campus or attend their events and the gay bars.

Once you are out of college the gay bars.

Your local gay community center is also always a good place.

But where else do you go to meet other gay people?

March Madness Bracket Destruction

This is probably the worst my March Madness bracket has started in the last 4 years. I guess that goes to show how little I paid attention to College Basketball this year. And how the teams that are playing as teams are much better than the teams with a few individual players only concerned about themselves and getting to the NBA as quickly as possible.

This probably has more of a political undertone that humorous for many gay people. But relax for a minute and enjoy.

Gender Neutral Housing

I found this movie from the Peninsula Press Stanford Graduate School in Journalism on YouTube yesterday.

I wish Purdue had a program like this when I was in school. I honestly probably would not have taken advantage of it, but it would have been nice to have the option to consider.

I also think that there are plenty of people who would benefit from this type of arrangement. The transgender community would definitely benefit. The gay kids who are not comfortable living with another guy and relate much better with ladies would also benefit. Even the straight boys and girls could possibly benefit. I do not say this due to the sexual aspect, which would be a terrible reason to room with another girl. What happens when you break up? College dorms are not exactly the easiest places to move out of.

But you are always going to have your detractors. You are going to have the nanny staters who think that allowing this will just be rampant sex and will cause society to fall out of existence. You are also going to have those who are concerned about the possibility of rape. Yes it is possible, but I do not think that a guy rooming with a girl increases the likelihood.

So I applaud Stanford and now Rutgers for their gender neutral housing. It is not the job of the university to be nannies in college dorms and it should be up to the student who they want to live with not the nanny staters.
